Charles Parham’s Bethel Healing Home
Topeka Storm Ministries is pleased to announce that they have just purchased the building at 335 S.W. Jackson Street in downtown Topeka, Kansas. This building housed Charles Parham’s Bethel Healing Home and Ministry Center from 1898 through 1900. It was here that he operated his heaing rooms, 200 seat chapel, Apostolic Faith Newspaper, city outreach programs, childrens orphanage, andemployment agency.
The Parham building has been virtually unused during the past 64 years. 90% of the building has been unaltered since it was built in 1896.
Charles Parham is rightfully credited as the founding father of the Pentecostal movement. On January 1, 1901, Agnes Ozman received the manifestation of the Holy Spirit and spoke in tongues (Chinese for 6 straight days) when Charles Parham laid hands upon her to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The Topeka Outpouring led directly to the Azusa Street revival in 1906 which was led by William Seymour, one of Charles Parham’s students.
Topeka Storm Ministries is in the process of having the Parham building nominated as a historical site on the National Register. We intend to operate our Apostolic Resource & Training Center as well as a bookstore and memorabilia room on the main level. The following phase will include restoration of the remainder of the building to its original design, with plans to once again open healing rooms.
If this worthwhile endeavor stirs within you a desire to participate, we invite you to partner with us to see the fulfillment of what we believe is more than a restoration of a building, but restoration of an outpouring that didn’t reach it’s fully intended purpose.
Thank you for considering participating in this RESTORATION PROJECT.
Abundant Blessings,
Topeka Storm Ministries
